Suspect repeatedly made unwanted physical contact with women on the train
A man who repeatedly groped female passengers on Seoul subway Line 2 has been arrested. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's subway investigation unit apprehended the man, identified only as A, a man in his 50s, at around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday on the Line 2 stretch between Gangnam Station and Seocho Station on charges of groping in a crowded public place.
A's conduct had already drawn public attention through social media, where photos showing him pressing his body against women from behind spread widely. Witnesses described him as short and bald.
He was still making physical contact with a female passenger moments before officers detained him. Police plan to seek an arrest warrant after investigating his motives and the full extent of his conduct.
"We plan to seek an arrest warrant after completing our investigation of A," a police official said.
