District mayor visits pedestrian-dense areas near Cheongam Overpass and Wonhyo Bridge to check safety conditions
Yongsan-gu District Mayor Kim Kyung-dae visited the Seoul International Fireworks Festival on Saturday, starting at 6 p.m., to inspect safety conditions at major entry and exit points along Han River Park and in areas with heavy pedestrian traffic.
Kim made rounds at key locations where large crowds had gathered to watch the fireworks, including areas near Cheongam Overpass and Wonhyo Bridge, checking pedestrian flow and on-site safety management.
He instructed district office officials and safety personnel deployed at the scene to monitor crowd movement closely and respond swiftly to any dangerous situations to ensure visitors could move safely.
"With so many people coming to the Han River, we must not overlook even the smallest risk factors and must inspect every corner of the site," Kim said. "We will stay vigilant until the very end and do our utmost to keep citizens safe so they can enjoy the festival."
The district set up a safety management headquarters for the duration of the event, operating four units — a general coordination team, a safety management team, a medical response team and a daily-living support team — with a total of 256 personnel. The district also deployed additional workers to clean surrounding areas and handle waste disposal, continuing site cleanup after the festival concluded.
