Gyeongbuk Health University to recruit students for smart logistics major in 2027

Gyeongbuk Health University announced Monday that it will open admissions for the smart logistics major within its AI Convergence Department for the 2027 academic year.

The smart logistics major operates under the principle of educating students in the skills companies need and connecting them directly to real-world work and employment opportunities.

Students will build foundational knowledge in logistics and retail, then develop job-ready competencies in smart logistics operations, logistics data analysis, and the application of AI and automation technology.

One of the major's defining features is its emphasis on field-based education in partnership with logistics companies.

Gyeongbuk Health University has partnered with logistics firms including Coupang Inc.'s fulfillment service arm and GS Networks to give students hands-on exposure to real logistics operations.

Beyond corporate partnerships, building a regional talent pipeline in collaboration with Gimcheon city is another key pillar of the program. The university and the city are working together to train locally the workforce the regional industry needs and to connect graduates with jobs and long-term settlement in the area.

The arrangement is expected to create a virtuous cycle of regional talent development — providing young people in the area with education and employment opportunities while supplying companies with practice-ready workers suited to industry demands.

Through its network of partnerships with Gimcheon city and logistics companies, the university plans to give students broad exposure to industry settings during their studies. It also aims to support graduates as they move into fields such as logistics center operations and management, logistics data management, retail and distribution management, and smart logistics systems operation.

"We will work closely with companies and Gimcheon city to build a practice-centered learning environment where students can apply what they have learned in the classroom to real-world settings and go on to secure employment," said Lee Eun-jik, president of Gyeongbuk Health University.
