The Daegu City Council announced Monday that it would hold a confirmation hearing for Lee Jae-yong, the candidate for president of Daegu Urban Development Corp., at 10 a.m. Tuesday in a third-floor meeting room at the council building.
The council formed a 10-member special confirmation committee — comprising seven members from the Construction and Transportation Committee and three recommended by the council speaker — on Aug. 31, following a formal hearing request from the Daegu city government.
The special committee held a preliminary meeting Wednesday to coordinate the hearing's detailed schedule and procedures, and reviewed materials related to the corporation's key issues and the candidate's background.
The hearing will focus on the candidate's policy views on Daegu Urban Development Corp.'s major pending issues and future management direction.
Particular attention will be paid to whether the candidate has the capacity to lead the organization with stability as head of a major regional public enterprise, and to contribute to local development and improved residential welfare for citizens.
Kim Tae-woo, chairman of the special confirmation committee, said the panel would "thoroughly verify, from the perspective of citizens, whether the candidate is the right person to enhance the competitiveness of Daegu Urban Development Corp. and deliver tangible results that residents can feel, based on objective data and facts."
