Daegu University physical therapy club to support disabled rugby team at National Sports Festival

A group of student physical therapists is heading to the field to support a local disabled athletes' squad ahead of the National Sports Festival.

Five members of A.T.P (Assistance Training of Physical Therapy), an academic and volunteer club in the physical therapy department at Daegu University, set sail for Jeju Island on Tuesday to support a disabled rugby team preparing for the National Sports Festival, the university said.

ATP is a volunteer club made up of 28 enrolled students under the guidance of faculty adviser Professor Jeon Deok-hun.

The five students joining the Jeju Island trip are Lee Ji-min, Kang Min-jeong and Park Hyeon-bin, all third-year students, and Kim Tae-un and Yeo Na-ru, both first-year students. They are expected to assist with training, equipment setup and mobility support for the athletes on site.

"Since we are accompanying the team to a major competition, we will do our best on the ground so the athletes can perform at their best without injury and finish with strong results," said Lee Ji-min, president of ATP.

Professor Jeon said the students are applying classroom theory to real-world disabled sports settings, building both practical skills and a spirit of service as aspiring physical therapists. "We will continue to expand hands-on volunteer activities linked to local disabled sports," he added.
