The 2026 World Smart City Expo, aimed at supporting Korean smart-city companies' overseas expansion and raising the profile of K-Smart City, will be held at Bexco in Busan from Wednesday through Oct. 3.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Busan city government — and jointly organized by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Korea Water Resources Corporation, Bexco and the Smart City Association — the event carries the slogan "Beyond Smart City, Into AI City," reflecting a vision of cities that evolve autonomously on the basis of AI.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the expo will open with a ceremony featuring an address by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and congratulatory remarks from the head of Kazakhstan's Alatau Development Agency. The program includes exhibitions such as an AI pilot city pavilion, business sessions, conferences and intergovernmental meetings.
"The 2026 World Smart City Expo is an opportunity to get a closer look at the AI City that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is newly preparing, building on the achievements of smart cities so far," Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kim Yun-deok said. "We plan to develop K-AI City as a warm future city realized through technology."
