Ssangyong E&C to build 574-unit 'The Platinum' near Gireum Station

Ssangyong Engineering & Construction plans to build its The Platinum residential complex near Gireum Station in Seoul.

The company announced Tuesday that it signed a construction contract Monday for a community housing project in the transit-oriented area of Donam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.

The project will develop a 13,043.35-square-meter site at 624 Donam-dong, Seongbuk-gu, into a complex of seven buildings ranging from six below-ground floors to 29 above-ground floors, comprising 574 residential units along with neighborhood commercial facilities and community support facilities. The total construction cost is 215 billion won ($159 million).

The 574 units are divided into four types: 102 units of 50 square meters, 286 units of 59 square meters, 28 units of 70 square meters and 158 units of 84 square meters. Of the total, 410 units are reserved for association members, 49 will be offered through general pre-sale and 115 will be designated as public rental housing.

The site sits in a transit-oriented area adjacent to Gireum Station on Seoul Metro Line 4, offering strong access to central Seoul. The surrounding Gireum New Town provides well-developed residential infrastructure, with hospitals, hypermarkets and a range of other lifestyle amenities within easy reach.

Meanwhile, Ssangyong Engineering & Construction has been consistently expanding its housing project portfolio in Seoul. The company has secured a series of urban street-block redevelopment projects — in Hongeun-dong, Siheung 5-dong, Cheonho-dong and the Noryangjin Eunha Mansion area — and added another this year in the Changjeong-dong 46-1 area of Mapo-gu, reinforcing its competitiveness in the Seoul residential market.
