Amid growing global interest in K-medicine, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine introduced the principles and clinical strengths of Korean traditional medicine to audiences in Mongolia, expanding the reach of K-medicine abroad.
Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine said Tuesday it participated in the "2026 Mongolia-Korea Medical Tourism Roadshow," held from Friday through Sunday in Ulaanbaatar and Dalanzadgad, Mongolia.
The event was organized by the Korea Tourism Organization to raise awareness of Korean medicine among Mongolian audiences and promote medical tourism. Mongolia is among the countries seeing the fastest growth in medical tourists visiting South Korea. According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the number of Mongolian medical tourists to South Korea last year reached 35,586 — seventh among all countries — with an average annual growth rate of 27.4 percent over the past three years.
More than 20 domestic medical institutions and medical tourism agencies took part in the event. Jaseng was the only Korean traditional medicine institution among the participants.
Jaseng representatives first attended a Korea-Mongolia medical industry travel mart at the Shangri-La Hotel in Ulaanbaatar, where they introduced local travel and medical industry professionals to the characteristics of Korean traditional medicine and its integrated treatment approach for spinal and joint conditions. They also explained the hospital's collaborative care system, which combines Korean traditional medicine with rehabilitation treatment following precise diagnosis through imaging such as MRI scans.
Local consumers showed strong interest as well. Premium cardholders of Mongolia's Trade and Development Bank and other local consumers visited the consultation booth in succession. Inquiries focused particularly on practical matters — whether specific symptoms could be treated, and what the procedures and treatment process would involve during a visit to South Korea.
The roadshow then moved to Dalanzadgad, a hub of Mongolia's mining industry, where Jaseng staff held consultations on spinal and joint conditions for mining workers, their families and general consumers. The region has a high level of awareness around musculoskeletal health, given the long hours mining workers spend operating heavy machinery and performing repetitive physical labor. Hospital officials said inquiries about non-surgical treatments for spinal and joint conditions were frequent on site.
"When I thought of Korean medicine before, health checkups and cosmetic procedures came to mind first," one local visitor said. "It was refreshing to learn that Korean traditional medicine is used to treat spinal and joint conditions. The step-by-step explanation of the process from consultation to treatment was very helpful, and if I ever have the chance to visit South Korea, I would like to try the integrated Korean medicine treatment myself."
