Yeungnam University of Science and Technology holds open day for prospective adult learners in social welfare program

Yeungnam University of Science and Technology held a department open day for prospective adult learners interested in its social welfare service program on Saturday at the audiovisual room on the second floor of Cheonma Square.

About 250 prospective adult learners and other attendees interested in applying to the Department of Social Welfare Service took part in the event.

Participants toured the university's educational facilities and gathered information about the admissions process for those seeking to build expertise and practical skills in the social welfare field.

The event opened with remarks from President Lee Jae-yong and proceeded through a department introduction, guidance on the 2027 academic year rolling admissions process, a question-and-answer session, application assistance, a campus facility tour, and one-on-one admissions consultations.

Attendees showed strong interest in the department's educational goals and operational direction, the learning environment for current students, and career paths after graduation.

The Department of Social Welfare Service has developed a tailored, adult-learner-centered curriculum to meet the growing demand for elderly care services driven by the country's rapid shift toward an aging society.

Professor Lee Ha-ye-jin, who presented the department's curriculum, said the program "is designed so that learners can develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, turning their own life experience into professional expertise."

President Lee said the university would "continue to strengthen field-centered education and personalized student support so that adult learners with diverse experiences and goals can build a stable academic and career path."
