Driver's life not in danger
A car driven by a man in his 90s veered off a road and flipped into a rice paddy in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, at around 12:47 p.m. Tuesday.
According to the North Jeolla Province Fire Department, the driver — identified only by his birth year of 1936 — was operating a subcompact vehicle (1,000cc engine) on a farm road in Jukchon-ri, Hwangdeung-myeon, Iksan, when the car left the road, got its wheels stuck in the paddy field and overturned.
When paramedics arrived, the driver was found collapsed inside the vehicle and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The driver complained of vomiting and pain in his left arm and received treatment at the hospital. He is not in life-threatening condition.
Police believe the elderly driver lost control due to inexperience and are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
