Korea Ocean Business Corp. delivers Chuseok gifts, volunteers at children's homes

Korea Ocean Business Corp. marked the Chuseok holiday by donating shoes to children at local residential care facilities and carrying out facility improvement volunteer work.

On Tuesday, the state-run maritime support agency held a gift presentation ceremony at Saebit Christian Children's Home in Nam-gu, Busan, providing 617 children across 19 residential care facilities in the city with shoes worth a combined 80 million won ($59,100). Rather than distributing identical items, the agency allowed each child to choose their preferred brand, design and size.

Following the ceremony, the agency's volunteer group — the KOBC Ocean Love Volunteer Corps, made up of staff and executives — carried out improvement work at the facility.

The agency has made a practice of delivering gifts to children in care facilities each Lunar New Year and Chuseok. Earlier this year, it provided clothing worth 70 million won to about 600 children across 20 facilities for the Lunar New Year holiday.
