Cho Yong-pil returns with 'Great Birth' Seoul concerts

Cho Yong-pil, widely celebrated as the king of Korean pop, is set to return to the stage. The veteran singer, who has kept up an annual nationwide concert tour, will once again take audiences through half a century of music with his band Widaehan Tansaeng, or Great Birth.

According to his agency YPC Entertainment, Cho will hold the "2026 Cho Yong-pil & Great Birth Concert" in Seoul from Nov. 27 to Nov. 29, performing three nights at KSPO Dome in Olympic Park.

The shows will span the full breadth of Cho's musical world — one that has marked turning points in Korean popular music history across five decades. Timeless hits that have resonated with audiences for generations will be brought to life through the tight live sound of Great Birth.

Cho began his musical journey in 1968, carving out an unrivaled path by breaking down the boundaries between rock, pop and trot music. Hailed as the king of Korean popular music, he has been a forward-thinking innovator behind countless hit songs. He set a record of eight consecutive sellouts at Jamsil Olympic Stadium and holds the title for the highest concert attendance in South Korean history. He is also the only singer to have topped the charts in the 1970s, '80s, '90s and 2010s. At this year's concerts, he is expected to reaffirm his standing as an artist still very much in his prime, performing beloved hits across generations — from "Taeyang-ui Nun" and "Baram-ui Norae" to "Kkum" and "Bounce."
