Weekly concert and 'Boim Day' free-admission event to coincide Saturday at the Yeosu island expo
Trot music fans will have a special opportunity to catch some of the genre's rising stars on an autumn night in Yeosu.
Trot singers Jin Hae-sung and Yang Ji-eun are set to headline a Weekly Concert at the main venue of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo on Saturday.
The concert will coincide with Boim Day, an event offering free admission to Yeosu residents and the families of local workers, giving expo visitors an even fuller day of entertainment.
Both singers, who have placed in trot music competitions, will perform hit songs and trot numbers for 60 minutes against the backdrop of the Yeosu night sea, filling the autumn evening at the expo grounds with the genre's signature sound.
The Weekly Concert requires no advance reservation and is open to all expo visitors, a format that has been drawing daytime exhibition-goers to stay through the evening.
Beyond the main venue, the islands of Gaedo and Geumodo will also offer programs that showcase their distinct character — island-spot tours, graffiti workshops, stargazing talks, an arts night and busking performances — making Saturday a good occasion to explore Yeosu's outlying islands alongside the expo.
Boim Day, organized in partnership with Yeosu-based Boim Group, will also take place Saturday.
Timed to mark the local company's 20th anniversary, the event is designed to celebrate the expo's successful run alongside the community and to make it easier for residents to enjoy the fair.
On that day only, Yeosu residents and the families of workers employed in the city may enter the expo grounds free of charge. All visitors will also be eligible for a prize draw, with roughly 200 winners sharing gifts worth a combined 20 million won ($14,600).
A film screening, a special performance and various on-site events for families round out the day's program, giving visitors yet another reason to head to the expo grounds Saturday.
Boim Group had earlier pledged a total of 200 million won in support of the expo — 100 million won as a direct donation and a further 100 million won in free-admission support for Boim Day.
Kim Jong-gi, secretary general of the organizing committee, said he hoped Boim Day and the Weekly Concert, brought together by a local company and its community, would draw more visitors to the expo grounds and give them a chance to reflect on what the event means for the future of islands.
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, themed "Islands: Connecting the Sea and the Future," runs through Nov. 4 at the Dolsan Jinmoji district main venue and other sites in Yeosu.
