Three soldiers were injured Monday in a suspected landmine explosion involving the Army's 25th Infantry Division, a frontline unit on the western front. Two sustained serious injuries and one suffered minor injuries; all three were transported to the Armed Forces Capital Hospital.
Multiple military officials said the division had been conducting an operation in the Demilitarized Zone when the casualties occurred. It has not yet been confirmed whether the landmine was planted by North Korean forces or by the South Korean military.
