Lotte Tour Development launches charter flights to Egypt for winter 2027

A new travel package connecting South Korea directly to Egypt by charter flight aims to ease the burden of long-haul travel to a destination with no scheduled nonstop service, combining ancient civilization tours with a Red Sea beach retreat.

Lotte Tour Development announced Monday it will offer an Egypt round-trip package this coming winter using a direct charter flight.

The package uses a Korean Air charter flight to reach Cairo, bypassing the need for stopovers. Within Egypt, travelers board domestic flights twice to reduce the fatigue of long overland journeys.

Departures are scheduled for Jan. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2027, and Feb. 5, 2027 — six trips in total — each on a nine-day, seven-night itinerary. Prices start at 7.99 million won ($5,770) per person, including taxes. January and February are considered the best time to visit Egypt, as temperatures remain relatively mild even at midday.

All accommodations throughout the itinerary are at five-star hotels, including World Chain properties. In Hurghada, a resort city on the Red Sea coast, travelers stay at a luxury resort with access to a private beach, a lagoon and outdoor pools, along with an all-inclusive package covering meals, beverages and use of resort facilities.

Two panoramic-view restaurant meals are also included — one overlooking the pyramids and another with views of the Philae Temple — rounding out the dining experience.

The itinerary covers Egypt's most iconic sites, from the Great Pyramid of Khufu at Giza — one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World — to the tomb of Tutankhamun. On the Nile, travelers ride a felucca, a traditional Egyptian sailboat, to take in the river scenery.

The tour also includes a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which officially opened in November 2025. Housing more than 100,000 artifacts, it is the world's largest ancient Egyptian museum and has quickly become one of the country's premier attractions.

"Egypt, where the splendor of ancient civilization and humanity's heritage live and breathe, is a classic bucket-list destination — but the lack of a direct flight has always been a barrier," said Lim Byeong-in, head of Lotte Tour's Europe business division. "Our Korean Air Egypt charter product has seen steady demand since its launch in 2019, and we continue to improve travel convenience for our customers every year."

Lotte Tour is also offering an early-booking discount of up to 400,000 won per person, limited to 30 travelers per departure date.
