Busan Port Authority steps up campaign against unauthorized drone flights in security zones

The Busan Port Authority is intensifying its public awareness campaign to prevent unauthorized drone flights within the port's designated security zones.

The authority announced Tuesday it has installed banners prohibiting drone intrusions and unauthorized photography at major port facilities, aiming to stop operators from flying drones without first confirming whether flights are permitted and to raise public awareness of port security zones.

The banners were put up at 20 locations near security zones where photography is restricted, making it easier for residents and tourists to check drone regulations. The security zones at Busan Port include the international passenger terminal, Jaseongdae Pier and other berths where ocean-going vessels dock and depart, areas used for cargo loading and unloading, and areas for passenger embarkation and disembarkation.

Busan Port is a Class A national security facility where international vessels and port infrastructure operate. Unauthorized drone flights and photography of port facilities or vessels may be subject to punishment under applicable law.

People flying drones at public spaces such as Bukhang Waterfront Park, Busan Port Healing Campground and Busan Port International Passenger Terminal are urged to take particular care to ensure that security zones do not fall within the drone's flight path or camera range.
