Busan Bank holds chuseok market campaign to support local merchants

Busan Bank held its chuseok market solidarity campaign at Deokpo Market in Sasang-gu, Busan, on Monday.

Bank President Kim Sung-joo led about 20 Busan Bank executives and employees through the market, joined by Sasang-gu District Mayor Seo Tae-kyung, ChildFund Korea Busan Regional Director Jo Yu-jin, the Deokpo Market merchants' association chairman and local community welfare center directors. The group toured the market, greeted vendors and purchased holiday food and daily necessities.

The bank donated the goods bought at the market, along with gift vouchers, to community welfare centers in Sasang-gu. The vouchers were designed to allow welfare centers to purchase needed items directly at Deokpo Market, so that local spending flows back into the market as sales.

After the shopping event, bank officials and local stakeholders, including merchants' association representatives, held a roundtable inside the market to hear firsthand about the challenges facing traditional markets and small neighborhood businesses.

"We organized this campaign to breathe new energy into traditional markets and small neighborhood businesses ahead of chuseok, and to share the warmth of the holiday season with neighbors in need," Kim said. "Busan Bank will continue to visit communities across the region and actively pursue cooperative initiatives that support small business owners and local commerce."
