Ulsan appoints new welfare and public affairs chiefs

Ulsan City will appoint Lee Jeong-mi, 59, a former visiting professor at Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology, as director general of welfare and health, and Yoo Jae-kwon, 57, a former regional newspaper team leader at the Korea Press Foundation, as public affairs officer, both effective Monday.

Lee studied social welfare and special education at Hanyang University and Daegu University, built hands-on administrative experience as a civil servant in Gyeonggi Province and Gwangmyeong, and most recently gained classroom experience at Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology.

Yoo graduated from Kyonggi University with a degree in history and accumulated practical experience in public communications and media relations at the Office of Government Policy Coordination and the Korea Press Foundation. He will be responsible for conveying key city policy issues in terms accessible to residents.

"We set expertise — the ability to get things done for citizens — as our standard," a city official said. "Through welfare and communications, we will quickly bring about changes that citizens can feel in their daily lives."
