Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-kyun attended the "2026 Mapo Grand Senior Citizens' Festival" on Wednesday afternoon at Art Hall MAC of the Mapo Art Center, spending time with elderly residents of the district.
Organized and hosted by the Mapo Welfare Foundation, the event was arranged to mark October's Senior Citizens' Month and to express gratitude for the contributions of the elderly.
About 1,000 senior residents attended, enjoying performances and participatory programs in a celebration filled with laughter.
The program featured sand art, an empathy performance and senior-friendly recreational activities. Singers Hwang Min-ho, So Yu-mi, Yang Ji-won, Lee Sang-ho and Lee Sang-min took the stage for congratulatory performances, adding to the festive atmosphere.
"I am deeply grateful to the seniors who have long stood by their families, neighbors and communities to make Mapo what it is today," Yoo said. "We will continue to look after them with greater care so they can enjoy a healthy and vibrant retirement."
