Fall sports day open to all coming to Han River in October

A fall sports day for the whole family is coming to Ttukseom Hangang Park in Seoul.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced Wednesday that it will hold the "Hangang Plpl Fall Sports Day" at the Hangang Plpl multipurpose cultural space in Ttukseom Hangang Park and the outdoor area beneath Cheongdam Bridge from Oct. 3 to 5.

Running from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, the festival will bring together sports activities, hands-on experiences, performances, a market and food all in one place.

The event connects the indoor Hangang Plpl space with the outdoor area under Cheongdam Bridge, offering continuous entertainment from daytime through the evening.

The centerpiece attraction is a 50-meter inflatable obstacle course set up beneath Cheongdam Bridge. Visitors can tackle the course freely from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a timed "Plpl Dream Team" competition will be held daily from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thirty participants drawn by lottery will receive Ddaenggyeoyo delivery gift vouchers.

The competition is free and open to anyone born in 2012 or earlier. Registration is available through the Hangang Plpl official website and Instagram through Wednesday.

Those not competing can still soak up the sports-day atmosphere. Outdoor activities include classic field-day staples such as balloon bursting, hula hooping and shoe throwing, while the indoor Hangang Plpl space will host seven sports-day programs including curling, limbo, board-flipping and cup stacking.

Family-friendly hands-on programs will also be available indoors, with face painting and craft activities running from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Beneath Cheongdam Bridge, a "FIT STOP" zone operated in partnership with Samsung Life Insurance will let visitors check their fitness and condition and try post-exercise recovery programs.

Live performances will begin at 1 p.m. on the circular stage at the Ttukseom Jabelre venue. A market and food zone featuring 30 flea-market vendors and 15 food trucks will also be set up under Cheongdam Bridge. "We have prepared a wide range of programs so that families, friends and couples can spend the whole day at the Han River — not just running and playing in the sports day itself, but also enjoying hands-on experiences, performances and food," said Park Jin-young, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Future Han River Bureau.
