'We're coming back': Fly to the Sky announces comeback after 8 years

R&B duo Fly to the Sky is set to reunite for a full-group comeback after eight years, with both members now confirming the news — first Hwanhee on television, then Brian on social media.

Brian posted on his Instagram on Sunday, writing, "You've heard the news, right? What Hwanhee said is true — we're coming back!" He added, "If you wait just a little, we might be back sooner than you think."

The post included photos taken at a recording studio, showing Brian standing before a microphone with headphones on, as well as a shot of the two members posing side by side.

Earlier, Hwanhee revealed the news on Saturday on KBS 2TV's "Salim Haneun Namjadeul 2," a home-life variety show. "We had been talking about it for a while," he said. "Brian came as a duet guest at my solo concert last year. I think that was the moment he really decided he wanted to be on stage again."

Hwanhee said he had agonized over the decision out of concern for his trot music fans. "It's not that I'm giving up trot," he explained. "I wanted to say that I'll come back as Fly to the Sky, show everyone what we've got, and then carry that into trot."

The two appeared together in May on MBN variety show "Jeon Hyeonmu Gyehoek 3," where they denied longstanding rumors of a falling-out. While acknowledging that they had quarreled often in their younger days, they said, "There was never really a serious rift between us."

Fly to the Sky debuted in 1999 and released a string of hits including "Day By Day," "Missing You," "Jungnyeok," "Namjadapge" and "Gaseum Apado." Their last full-group studio album was their 10th, released in 2019 — making the upcoming comeback roughly eight years in the making. Specific release dates and activity schedules have not yet been announced.
