Kim Su-ji, Kim Na-hyun win historic silver in women's synchronized 3m springboard

National team divers Kim Su-ji and Kim Na-hyun claimed South Korea's first-ever silver medal in the women's synchronized 3m springboard at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Japan on Sunday.

The pair finished second after each of the first three rounds, scoring 46.80 points on a forward dive with a degree of difficulty of 2.0 in round one, 46.80 on an inward dive in round two, and 59.40 on a degree-of-difficulty-3.0 dive in round three. Their momentum slowed in round four, where an early entry on a degree-of-difficulty-3.0 dive left them with 44.10 points, cutting their lead over third-place Malaysia to within six points. The pair regrouped for the final round, however, posting 57.60 points to finish with a total of 254.70 and secure the silver medal.

China took the gold medal.

For Kim Na-hyun, the silver came a day after she and Moon Na-yun won South Korea's first-ever bronze medal in the 10m platform event on Saturday, giving her medals on consecutive days.
