The Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council announced Monday that the 2026 Fencing Start Class, run jointly with the Seoul Fencing Association, concluded Sept. 20 with a talent-sharing session featuring Olympic and Asian Games medalists.
The program was designed to give 60 third- and fourth-grade elementary school students in Seoul an accessible and enjoyable introduction to fencing. It ran on weekends from June 27 through Sept. 20, totaling 24 sessions.
Participants learned the basic movements and scoring rules of épée and sabre in a step-by-step curriculum. On the final day of each cohort, Olympic and Asian Games medalists took part in a talent-sharing session with the students.
Medalists including Shin A-ram and Kim Jun-ho personally coached students on their form and basic techniques, observed mini-matches and offered advice on game management and technique.
