Singer Jo Jjaejeu has revealed that he underwent surgery on his eyes, nose and mouth during high school, calling himself a "first-generation plastic surgery patient." He is said to have invested as much as 20 million won in the procedures.
The disclosure came Friday on MBN and Channel S's "Jeon Hyun-moo Plan 4," in which host Jeon Hyun-moo traveled with Jo and Jang Han-byeol to Uiryeong in South Gyeongsang Province for a "rich table" food trip.
During the journey, Jo shared old photos of himself. Struck by how different he looked, Jang said, "You were so slim back then," while Jeon remarked, "You look better now — you seemed a bit in-between back then."
Jo fired back with a laugh, saying, "If I had looked good back then, I would have made it big back then."
When Jeon asked, "I heard you're a first-generation plastic surgery patient?" Jo replied candidly, "I am a first-generation plastic surgery patient. I had the surgery when there were almost no plastic surgery clinics around."
He added that he had his eyes and nose done in high school and, more recently, had dental veneers applied.
Jo had previously spoken about the costs on MBC's "Radio Star" last year, saying he had "invested about 20 million won in plastic surgery."
At the time, he said his mother had arranged the procedures herself. "Most parents don't tell their children they're unattractive, but my mother had foresight," Jo said. "She boldly invested what would amount to nearly 20 million won at today's market price."
Meanwhile, Jo also shared the love story behind his marriage during the episode.
He said he serenaded his wife with a proposal song at the bar where they first met, adding, "We're still having a great time together."
