Small businesses now eligible to register as Onuri gift voucher merchants
Twenty-one shops in the Jinnam shopping area near Jinnam Market in Yeosu's Hakdong district have been newly designated as an alley-type shopping district.
The designation makes the shops eligible to register as Onuri gift voucher merchants and opens the door to a range of support programs for alley commercial districts, including traditional market development projects, market management support projects, safety management packages and other competitive grant programs run by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Jinnam Market sits adjacent to Jeil Market and Ssangbong Market, and the designation is expected to help revitalize the broader local commercial area by linking the traditional markets with the surrounding alley shopping district.
An official from the city's economy and jobs division said the city would strengthen outreach and publicity around the alley shopping district system and work to ensure merchants can access a wide range of support benefits to help invigorate the alley commercial district.
