Kwon Min-ah's Instagram goes dark a day after pleading for sister to contact her

The Instagram account of Kwon Min-ah, a former member of K-pop group AOA, has suddenly become inaccessible — just one day after she publicly pleaded for her older sister to get in touch amid a family emergency.

As of Tuesday morning, visitors to Kwon's Instagram page are met with the message: "Sorry, this page isn't available." It remains unclear whether she deleted the account, set it to private, or temporarily deactivated it.

On Monday, Kwon posted on Instagram asking anyone in contact with her older sister to pass along a message. She said their mother had been admitted to the intensive care unit following cardiac arrest and was in critical condition. "Sister, don't have regrets — please reach out," she wrote.

Kwon also said she had filed a missing persons report for her sister. She drew controversy in the process by publicly naming the police officer handling the case, expressing frustration with how police had responded.

Earlier, on Sept. 4, Kwon had posted a lengthy message on Instagram disclosing a financial dispute with her older sister.

In that post, Kwon said she had long been aware that her sister had embezzled money from her. "In our family, there's no 'your money' or 'my money,' so I was okay with her spending some when times were tough, but if she couldn't pay it back, a single sincere apology or acknowledgment would have been enough," she wrote. She said her sister had taken money from her, their mother, and a friend of their mother's.

On the scale of the losses, Kwon said the combined amount owed to all three parties exceeded 700 million to 800 million won, including 150 million won ($111,000) documented in loan agreements and additional sums tied to a vehicle purchase worth more than 100 million won.

Kwon said she had no intention of pursuing legal action if her sister apologized to their mother and acknowledged what she had done, but warned she would otherwise press charges including fraud and forgery of private documents. Her sister's side has not commented.

Kwon debuted with AOA in 2012 and left the group in 2019. Since then, she has shared details of her personal life on social media on multiple occasions.
