Unused Korea Land and Housing Corporation sites to be converted for public use

Buk-gu in Ulsan will convert two idle sites owned by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) in the Songjeong district into free public parking lots.
The district office worked with LH to build parking facilities on LH-owned land at 1224 and 1233-1 Songjeong-dong, providing 44 and 42 spaces, respectively, to ease a parking shortage in the area's commercial district.
Buk-gu plans to add six more parking lots by year's end, including on another LH-owned site at 1232-4 Songjeong-dong and on privately owned land in residential and commercial areas in Hogye-dong and Yangjeong-dong. The district has already converted private land into parking lots at 35 locations.
For privately owned sites, landowners may apply to open their land as a parking lot; the district then conducts an on-site inspection to assess the need before proceeding. Property tax reductions are offered to participating landowners.
