LS Securities has unveiled a service that uses generative AI to convert trading strategies entered by investors into executable program code, lowering the barrier to API-based automated trading and allowing retail investors to systematize their own investment ideas without deep coding knowledge.

The company launched the "API Investment Strategy Center," an integrated homepage where users can access both the Windows-based xingAPI and the web-based Open API in one place, it said Thursday. The platform consolidates information and user environments from the two previously separate API services and introduces a new AI assistant feature powered by ChatGPT.

An application programming interface, or API, is a technology that connects a brokerage's market price data, order functions and account information to external programs. Investors can set trading conditions in code, allowing the program to check market prices and place orders automatically based on those conditions.

The centerpiece of the new service is the AI assistant. Users type in a desired trading strategy as plain text, and the AI generates the corresponding program code, which can then be used directly for API-based trading.

LS Securities also provides a guide to support AI-assisted API development, offering its API request-and-response documentation — known as TR specification sheets — in a format that can be used as training material for AI tools.

The platform also strengthens support for beginner investors, offering a three-step guide covering environment setup, API key issuance and tutorial execution, along with sample code in major programming languages including Python, Java and JavaScript.

A simulated trading function lets users test strategies before committing real money. The platform also includes WebSocket-based real-time market data and a "Strategy Studio" where investors can apply techniques such as golden crosses and Bollinger Bands.

To mark the launch, LS Securities is running a domestic stock commission discount event for Open API users through Dec. 31. Customers who hold a non-face-to-face (direct) account, register for the Open API service and apply for the event are eligible, with the discount taking effect the day after application.
