South Korea held scoreless by Venezuela in frustrating draw

South Korea's national team drew 0-0 with Venezuela in a friendly on Friday under head coach Roberto Moreno.

The match at Ulsan Munsu Football Stadium was a frustrating display, with South Korea not registering their first shot until the 45th minute. Venezuela rank 48th in the FIFA real-time rankings, 16 places below South Korea at 32nd.

Son Heung-min's bid for a new record will have to wait. Son had scored in each of the two previous matches, drawing level with former national team head coach Cha Bum-kun on 58 goals — the all-time record for a South Korean in international "A" matches.

Moreno was appointed interim head coach after South Korea were eliminated in the group stage of the 2026 North and Central America World Cup.

Earlier in the current run of fixtures, South Korea opened with a commanding 3-0 win over Ecuador before suffering a 1-4 defeat to Uruguay.
