Financial authorities have called an emergency Sunday meeting, summoning the heads of all financial industry associations and the chief executives of firms hit by hacking incidents.

According to financial industry and regulatory sources, the Financial Services Commission will convene the emergency review meeting Sunday afternoon at the Government Complex Seoul. Attendees will include association heads from across the financial sector — banking, financial investment, insurance, credit finance, savings banks, mutual finance, virtual assets and fintech — as well as the CEOs of firms that have suffered breaches.

FSC Chairman Lee Eok-won will chair the meeting himself.

The FSC had originally planned to have each financial firm conduct its own internal review through Monday and report the results on Oct. 7. The meeting was moved up after data leak incidents spread to the non-bank financial sector.

Earlier, breaches were confirmed at Shinhan Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, Hana Bank and BNK Busan Bank. Yegaram Savings Bank has since also confirmed that personal data of an estimated 40,000 customers was leaked. At Hyundai Capital Services, some personal information belonging to 146 home loan solicitors was also compromised.
