Gumi, in North Gyeongsang Province, announced Monday it is accepting additional applications for its youth monthly rent support program to help young residents struggling with housing costs.
The program targets unmarried residents between the ages of 19 and 39 who do not own a home. Applicants must have a household income at or below 120 percent of the median and assets not exceeding 122 million won ($89,700). Those who qualify can receive up to 100,000 won per month for a maximum of 24 months.
Applications can be submitted online through the integrated reservation system on the Gumi city government website or in person at the administrative welfare center serving the applicant's registered address.
"I hope this helps ease the housing burden on young people and gives them a stable foundation for their lives," Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho said.
