A young boy's act of kindness for his flu-stricken mother — a pot of seaweed soup left waiting on the kitchen table — has touched hearts online.
On Monday, a working mother shared her story on the social media platform Threads, recounting how her fourth-grade son had surprised her with homemade seaweed soup and a handwritten note after she fell ill with the flu.
The mother wrote that her fever had spiked to 40 degrees Celsius, leaving her in severe pain. She said she had managed only to give her son bread for breakfast before taking a half-day off work and heading home early.
When she walked through the door, she was moved to find a full pot of seaweed soup on the dining table. Her fourth-grade son had used a meal kit to prepare the soup for his ailing mother before leaving for school, and had left a handwritten note beside it. The note read: "Mom, heat this up and eat it — it's one serving."
The post drew warm responses from other users. "You've raised a wonderful son — be happy," one commenter wrote. Others added, "Thank you for this heartwarming story!" and "Raising a child, you realize just how much love you receive in return."
