A man in his 50s who called police to say he intended to kill his former partner has been arrested on charges of preparing to commit murder.
According to Yonhap, the Jecheon Police Station in North Chungcheong Province has taken the man, identified only as A, into custody and is investigating him on the same charges.
A is accused of preparing a weapon at his home in Jecheon on Wednesday afternoon before calling 112 — South Korea's emergency police line — and stating that he planned to kill his ex-partner.
Officers who responded to the call found A in possession of the weapon he had prepared in advance. Concluding that he had genuine intent to carry out the attack, they arrested him on charges of preparing to commit murder.
Police said they plan to investigate the full circumstances behind the alleged plot.
