World Bank President Ajay Banga to deliver keynote
PIIE president, former Bank of Korea governor among panelists
The Federation of Korean Industries announced Friday that it will co-host the "2026 FKI-PIIE Joint International Conference" with the Peterson Institute for International Economics on Oct. 27 at the FKI Tower Conference Center in Yeouido, Seoul.
Held under the theme "New Growth Strategies in an Age of Fragmentation: The Future of Trade, Industry and Jobs," the conference aims to explore growth strategies for the South Korean economy alongside domestic and international experts amid rising global uncertainty driven by tariff disputes, supply chain realignment and the spread of AI.
World Bank President Ajay Banga will deliver the keynote address, followed by a panel discussion on growth, jobs and economic resilience featuring PIIE President Adam Posen, Korea Economic Research Institute President Jeong Cheol and former Bank of Korea Governor Lee Chang-yong.
Subsequent sessions will examine pressing global economic issues across a range of specific topics.
The first session will feature PIIE senior fellow Kimberly Clausing and Korea Economic Research Institute visiting fellow Lee Jae-woo, who will assess global macroeconomic trends and the outlook in the wake of Trumponomics.
The second session will have World Bank Deputy Chief Economist Ayhan Kose and PIIE senior fellow Martin Chorzempa discuss how technological shifts — including AI — are affecting employment and productivity.
The final session will bring together PIIE senior fellow Mary Lovely and PIIE Deputy Director Marcus Noland to discuss trade policy and industrial strategy in response to tariffs and supply chain restructuring.
Registration is available through the FKI website.
