Gangwon Province Governor Woo Sang-ho and a provincial delegation will visit the Jeju Indoor Swimming Pool on Saturday to cheer on Gangwon's swimming team competing in the 107th National Sports Festival.
The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province delegation is fielding 1,474 participants — 1,171 athletes and 303 officials — across 48 events, aiming to defend the sixth-place overall finish the province achieved last year.
The on-site visit to Jeju was organized to recognize the hard work of athletes and coaches and to boost the delegation's morale.
Swimmers representing the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province office in the men's open division, the Gangwon Provincial Sports Council in the women's open division, and Gangwon Sports High School in the high school division will receive a personal show of support from the governor.
"I am grateful to the athletes and coaches who have dedicated themselves to training for the National Sports Festival," Woo said. "I hope you will compete with pride as representatives of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, give your best in every event, and show the strength of Gangwon athletics."
The 107th National Sports Festival runs Friday through Thursday across Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.
