The early childhood education department of Keimyung College of Culture in Daegu held its "Shining First Steps" teacher pledge ceremony for the 2026 academic year on Oct. 8.
The event was attended by third-year students in the department, along with faculty and first- and second-year students.
The centerpiece of the ceremony was a pledge-writing and name badge presentation. Third-year students each wrote and read aloud a personal commitment to uphold the "Huijeon" spirit embodied in the name of the department building, Huijeongwan, and to become educators who respect children and listen attentively even to the quietest voices.
Faculty members then presented the students with teacher name badges as a gesture of encouragement, while first- and second-year students offered bouquets to celebrate their sunbae's new beginning.
At the pledge declaration, third-year representative Kim Se-rang said, "I will become a teacher who believes in the existence and potential of each and every child, and grows alongside them."
First- and second-year students also performed "If You Don't Dream," cheering on their seniors.
Hong Hui-ju, head of the early childhood education department, said she hoped the ceremony would give students an opportunity to reflect on their sense of calling and responsibility as educators and to grow into warm-hearted teachers who understand and respect children.
Meanwhile, the department is recruiting students for the 2027 academic year. The second round of rolling admissions runs from Nov. 11 to Nov. 25, and the regular admissions application period runs from Jan. 4 to Jan. 20, 2027.
