Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Mapo-gu Walking Festival at World Cup Park's Peace Plaza on Saturday morning, greeting participants and wishing them a safe finish.
Organized by the Mapo-gu Sports Council and sponsored by the district, the event was designed to let residents enjoy the autumn atmosphere and look after their health while walking together.
Participants walked an approximately 4.7-kilometer course starting from Peace Plaza, ascending to the summit of Haneul Park and returning to the plaza. The route took walkers along part of Haneulnoeul-gil, one of Mapo-gu's "10 Best Walking Paths," where they took in the park's scenic autumn foliage.
"On this crisp autumn morning, I hope you enjoy the beautiful scenery of Haneul Park and take care of your health as you walk alongside your neighbors," Yoo said. "After completing the course safely, I encourage everyone to stop by the salted shrimp festival, enjoy its many programs and food offerings, and make the most of a wonderful weekend."
Mapo-gu is hosting the 19th Mapo Naru Salted Shrimp Festival at World Cup Park's Peace Plaza from Friday through Sunday, offering residents and visitors a variety of entertainment and food.
