Daegu's Dalseo-gu announced Sunday that it won the top prize in the local government category at the 2026 Low-Carbon Awards, held Wednesday at Kintex, in recognition of its carbon reduction policies and sustained eco-friendly administration.
The 2026 Low-Carbon Awards are organized by the Urban Regeneration Safety Association, accredited by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Recipients are selected through a comprehensive evaluation of local governments, public institutions and companies based on their achievements in carbon reduction, energy savings and eco-friendly policy implementation.
Dalseo-gu was recognized for its proactive approach to tackling complex pollution sources through a multilayered environmental monitoring system, an industrial complex air quality improvement project and an air environment surveillance system — efforts that have placed the district at the forefront of building a cleaner city.
"In this era of climate crisis, we will advance toward a sustainable Dalseo by pursuing tailored carbon neutrality policies across the environmental, social and economic sectors to strengthen urban resilience," Dalseo-gu District Mayor Kim Yong-pan said.
