Artist Studio, the drama production company launched under the names of actors Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung, is moving to change its name roughly two years after its founding.
According to DART on Sunday, Artist Studio plans to hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting on Oct. 26 and vote on a charter amendment to rename the company Studio Ssolssol.
The agenda also includes adding exhibition, convention and event management services as well as art content to its business scope, and revising its share issuance rules to attract outside investment.
If the proposals pass, the Artist Studio name — which came into being in October 2024 — will disappear after roughly two years.
Artist Studio was formed when Raemongraein, the production company behind the drama series "Reborn Rich," changed its name in October 2024. At the time, Lee Jung-jae and Jung Woo-sung were appointed as inside directors, establishing a new management structure.
Jung Woo-sung had earlier stepped down as an inside director of Artist Company. According to Sports Kyunghyang, he resigned Oct. 2, about six months before his term was set to expire on March 28, 2027. Jung had been appointed as an inside director of Artist Company alongside Lee Jung-jae on March 29, 2024.
The two have been close friends for 27 years, having first worked together on the 1999 film "City of the Rising Sun."
Lee and Jung co-founded Artist Company in 2016 and have long been regarded as both close friends and business partners in the entertainment industry. They expanded the company from talent management into film and drama production over the years.
Given their longstanding collaboration not only as actors but also in management, the name change has drawn considerable attention.
The name change is set to be finalized depending on the outcome of the extraordinary shareholders meeting on Oct. 26.
