The Department of Health Administration at Gwangju University recently held a special alumni lecture aimed at helping about 50 first- and second-year students explore career paths and build employment skills.
The guest speaker was Kim Seong-gwan, head of the management support team at Incheon Chamsarang Hospital, who earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Gwangju University's health administration program. Kim began his hospital career in 2012 as a staff member in the patient services team and has since built expertise in hospital administration through roles including head of international cooperation, director of management and head of strategic planning.
"Hospital administration is a field where you can grow into an expert who leads the entire management of a hospital as your experience accumulates," Kim said. "I encourage you to start finding your areas of interest now and take on challenges one by one."
Yang Yu-jeong, chair of the health administration department, said the lecture gave junior students a concrete opportunity to map out their futures. "Hearing directly about the path a sunbae has walked will have given lower-year students a chance to design their own careers in specific terms," she said, adding that the department plans to continue running career and employment support programs in partnership with alumni.
