Bank to strengthen marine and industrial finance competitiveness, expand stable revenue base
Lender to broaden financial support beyond ship finance to ports, shipbuilding and shipping
Busan Bank held its 59th anniversary ceremony at the main auditorium of its headquarters on Friday, with about 400 employees in attendance, the bank announced Monday. The ceremony featured a review of the bank's 59-year journey alongside the local community and a presentation of its management direction for sustainable growth amid a changing financial environment.
Marking the occasion, Busan Bank said it plans to build a stable revenue base through rigorous risk management and profitability-focused operations, while concentrating on strengthening its marine and industrial finance competitiveness in line with the industrial characteristics of Busan and the broader southeastern region.
In marine finance, the bank intends to expand its support beyond ship finance to cover ports, shipbuilding and shipping. In industrial finance, it plans to bolster support for the growth of advanced local industries and innovative companies, deepening its financial engagement across the regional industrial sector.
The bank also plans to improve operational efficiency using AI and digital technology, and to enhance the quality of its financial services through a deeper understanding of customers and markets. It will work to raise employee expertise and organizational competitiveness by cultivating financial specialists in core areas including asset management, corporate finance and investment finance.
Alongside this, the bank said it will treat consumer financial protection as a foundational principle across all operations, further strengthening a prevention-focused consumer protection framework spanning its products, services and overall business activities.
"We are deeply grateful to the customers and the community who have trusted and stood by Busan Bank over the past 59 years," said Busan Bank President Kim Seong-ju. "We will continue to put customer trust first and strive to be a financial institution that strengthens the local economy through better financial services."
