CEO Seo Il-seop vows to 'set a new standard for residential living'
Four apartment management firms — Gwangin Total Management, Daewon Estate Service, Jeil Estate Service and Pureun General Housing Management — have officially merged to form KES, South Korea's largest residential management company.
KES held its launch ceremony Tuesday at the 15th-floor training room of its headquarters in Seocho-gu, Seoul, with Genesis PE CEO Lee Yu-jae, KES CEO Seo Il-seop and about 100 employees in attendance.
The event marked the first step in uniting the four companies' combined expertise under a single name, with KES now overseeing more than 1,500 residential complexes nationwide.
Apartment management in South Korea has expanded well beyond basic facility upkeep to encompass resident safety, lifestyle convenience and community operations. Technical expertise to handle increasingly sophisticated building systems is now paired with a growing demand for service capabilities — the ability to understand and respond to diverse resident needs. KES plans to combine the on-site experience and operational systems of each constituent company to raise both its technical and service standards.
At the launch ceremony, KES unveiled its vision — "We are leaders creating a new standard for residential living in South Korea" — and its mission statement: "We take responsibility for the 40 years of living, not just the three years of building." The company said the mission reflects its commitment to caring for residents throughout the long years after move-in, far exceeding the time it takes to construct a home, and to establishing management standards that residents can trust.
"Apartment management means looking after the spaces where millions of people begin and end their day," Seo said. "The daily work of carefully inspecting facilities, listening to residents' concerns and following through on every issue is what translates into resident safety and satisfaction."
Seo added that the company would connect the experience and expertise each firm has built under a unified standard, and strengthen education and support so that on-site staff can put that standard into practice. "We will uphold the fundamentals of principle, documentation and respect, so that KES-managed complexes earn the reputation of being places people can trust to live in," Seo said. "We will be leaders who create a new standard for residential living in South Korea, starting from the ground up."
