Gangnam-gu was named the top tuberculosis management agency in the group-facility contact investigation category at the 2026 Public-Private Partnership Tuberculosis Management Project Evaluation, winning an award from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency commissioner. The event was held Tuesday at Seoul Dragon City.
The public-private partnership tuberculosis management project is a national infectious disease program aimed at raising treatment success rates and lowering mortality among tuberculosis patients through cooperation between the government and private medical institutions. The evaluation was organized to share best practices in tuberculosis management among public health centers and medical institutions nationwide and to chart the program's future direction.
The district conducted epidemiological investigations at 125 group facilities where tuberculosis cases had been reported from 2025 through this year. It also administered chest X-rays and latent tuberculosis infection tests to about 1,600 contacts.
Gangnam-gu achieved a 100 percent management rate for group-facility tuberculosis epidemiological investigations this year, surpassing the national average of 98.1 percent and the Seoul average of 96.9 percent.
"This award is a meaningful result of close cooperation between public health centers and medical institutions to prevent tuberculosis in the community," Gangnam-gu District Mayor Kim Hyun-ki said. "We will continue to strengthen partnerships with private medical institutions and push forward proactive screening and prevention programs to put the health and safety of our residents first."
