Carrier tops business and first class, in-flight dining, and cabin crew categories
Cabin service reviewed ahead of December merger
Standardized training keeps safety operations on track
Korean Air announced Thursday that it has won three awards at the 2026 USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards, organized by the American national daily.
Korean Air took first place in three categories: business and first class, in-flight dining, and cabin crew.
USA Today annually ranks the top 10 companies in categories spanning aviation, airports, accommodations and travel. Because the rankings are determined by a public online vote drawn from a shortlist compiled by an expert panel, the awards are considered a credible benchmark in the global aviation industry.
This marks the first time Korean Air has topped all major airline-related voting categories simultaneously. The result reflects the carrier's customer-centered management and service innovation efforts gaining recognition in global markets.
Korean Air has made comprehensive improvements to both hardware — including seats in business and first class — and in-flight service. Its business-class Prestige Suite 2.0 seat reclines fully flat to 180 degrees for use as a bed, and the in-flight entertainment system has been significantly upgraded.
Premium cabin meals have been revamped around upscale multi-course dining, complemented by a curated beverage and wine list for a fine-dining experience at altitude. Amenity kits, first-class loungewear and bedding are provided in collaboration with overseas luxury brands.
In-flight menus feature Korean traditional cuisine reinterpreted in a contemporary style, offering passengers a fresh travel experience. The airline also runs various service policies to enhance customer convenience, including a meal pre-order service. Its snack service on long-haul economy routes has drawn positive feedback for the range of options available.
Korean Air cabin crew deliver consistent, customer-friendly service across all seat classes. The airline conducted a comprehensive review of its cabin service ahead of the December merger and continues to carry out safety duties without disruption through standardized training. Korean Air plans to maintain premium service quality after the integration through a structured cabin crew education program.
"This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the direct choice of readers around the world," a Korean Air official said. "We will continue to place safety and customer service at the top of our priorities as we strengthen our standing as a global carrier."
Meanwhile, Korean Air has ranked first in the airline category of the Korean Standard-Service Quality Index (KS-SQI) for five consecutive years, in a survey organized by the Korean Standards Association.
The KS-SQI is a service quality evaluation model jointly developed in 2000 by the Korean Standards Association and Seoul National University's Business School. It publishes an annual composite index measuring customer satisfaction with the service quality of domestic service companies, based on surveys of customers who have experienced their products or services.
