Kim: 'Division is incompetence, unity is duty'
Ahn Sang-hoon: 'Juniors will do their part properly'
People Power Party lawmaker Kim Tae-ho on Thursday called for independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon to rejoin the party, saying "the Republic of Korea is greater than any factional interest." Lawmakers aligned with Han welcomed the message, saying it resonated deeply.
In a Facebook post, Kim said, "At a time when the constitutional order is being shaken, division is incompetence and unity is duty." He questioned how the party could win public trust if it could not overcome its own internal divisions while claiming to stand against what he called "anti-constitutional forces."
Kim said the party must "pool its scattered capabilities and focus all its energy on a united response," urging that Han's return be pursued "magnanimously." He added that senior lawmakers must take the lead and the party leadership must make a decisive call, while Han himself must also share responsibility for unity.
"The constitution weighs heavier than personal feelings, and the Republic of Korea is greater than factional interest," Kim said. "History will not ask us whether we held onto party power at this moment. It will ask what we set aside and whose hand we took to defend the constitutional order."
Kim's call drew a response from Han-aligned lawmakers. People Power Party lawmaker Ahn Sang-hoon wrote on his Facebook page that Kim's message "resonates deeply at a time when the party situation feels so frustrating," adding that "we, your juniors, will also do our part more properly."
