'Taste of Kobe' seminar to feature sake from 6 local breweries
A food and drink event offering comparative tastings of six premium sake varieties from Kobe, Japan, is coming to central Seoul. The program will include sake tastings, expert lectures and tourism information about the port city.
The Kobe Tourism Bureau announced it will hold a sake seminar titled "Delicious Kobe Travel — Taste of Kobe" on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event is organized by Inpainter Global, with sake instruction led by Park Seong-hui, a lecturer at FBO's Japanese Sake Academy and a certified sake and traditional liquor sommelier.
The seminar centers on sake and food culture as a window into what makes Kobe a distinctive travel destination. Participants will sample sake produced at Kobe breweries, attend expert lectures on sake characteristics and serving methods, and taste local specialty foods.
The tasting will showcase sake from six of Kobe's most prominent breweries: Kikumasamune Shuzo, Hakutsuru Shuzo, Kobe Shushinkan, Hamafukutsuru Shuzo, Sawanotsuru and Sakuramasamune Shuzojo.
The seminar will also introduce a range of food-focused travel itineraries, including the dessert culture that took root in the port city of Kobe, the breweries of Kobe's Nada-Gogo district — widely regarded as the heartland of Japanese sake production — and a Kobe gyoza tour. The event will also share tourism tips and photogenic spots around the city to help attendees plan their trips.
