Daegu city government announced Friday it will conduct a special cybersecurity audit of its main offices and affiliated public institutions to ease public concern following a hacking incident involving the city's online food delivery app, Daeguro, and a series of cyberattacks on financial institutions.
The city will review the security management of services frequently used by residents through Nov. 27.
The city's Cyber Intrusion Response Center operates year-round and provides 24-hour security monitoring of the main city offices and affiliated public institutions.
In addition, the city conducts simulation drills, regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to evaluate its crisis-response capabilities and security management systems.
The city also plans to carry out special inspections of major information services with high public usage and to strengthen cybersecurity expertise and monitoring to improve the safety of those services.
Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho said the city would "continuously strengthen inspections and management to prevent the recurrence of hacking and data-breach incidents that have recently caused widespread social concern, and build Daegu into a safer and more trusted digital city."
