The North Gyeongsang Province chapter of the Community Chest of Korea, known locally as the North Gyeongsang Sarang-ui Yeolmae, has launched under its 12th chairman, Kim Bong-gyo.
Kim will serve a three-year term, leading efforts to improve residents' welfare and promote a culture of sharing across the province.
North Gyeongsang Province held an inauguration ceremony for Kim alongside a farewell ceremony for outgoing 10th- and 11th-term Chairman Jeon Woo-heon on Friday at the multipurpose hall of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government building in Andong.
The event drew about 70 attendees, including North Gyeongsang Governor Lee Cheol-woo, Community Chest of Korea Vice Chairman Kim Hyeong-cheol, North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly Speaker Kim Hui-su, and representatives from related organizations and volunteer groups.
Kim previously served as a North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly lawmaker from 2012 to 2020 and as chairman of the Yongun Education Foundation.
In his inaugural address, Kim said he would "listen broadly to the voices of those at welfare sites and neighbors in need, drawing on past experience, and continue the journey of sharing together with everyone."
Outgoing Chairman Jeon, who served six years across his two terms, said in his farewell remarks that he felt "deep emotion and pride in the spirit of sharing shown by North Gyeongsang residents" after witnessing how donations over the past six years had brought hope to neighbors and given the community the strength to overcome crises and rise again.
