Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-o attended the graduation ceremony for the 2026 Nowon Gifted Education Institute on Saturday at Da Vinci Hall of Seoul National University of Science and Technology, where he congratulated graduates and presented commendations to outstanding students.
The Nowon Gifted Education Institute is operated under a consignment agreement with the industry-academic cooperation foundation of Seoul National University of Science and Technology. Since February, it has run a 90-hour curriculum using weekends and school vacation periods across six classes — advanced and research-level mathematics and AI, advanced and research-level science, advanced creative writing, and advanced fine arts. A total of 77 students completed the coursework this cycle.
The ceremony drew about 200 attendees, including District Mayor Seo, graduates, parents and faculty advisers. The program featured opening remarks by the institute's director, congratulatory addresses by the university president and the district mayor, and a commendation ceremony for outstanding students.
"I am proud of our students, who brought their passion for learning to weekends and vacation periods and successfully completed the 90-hour curriculum," Seo said. "We will continue to build a hands-on education support system and administrative foundation so that Nowon's young people can grow into creative talent."
