A pilot program launching in December at Gyeongil High School will pair students with professional consultants for personalized college entrance strategy sessions, expanding school-based admissions support.
Seoul's Seongdong-gu announced it will launch a pilot program in December that brings professional college admissions counseling directly to students at their schools, eliminating the need to visit a separate counseling center.
The program expands the district's existing college consulting service by delivering expert guidance on campus. It focuses on providing each student with personalized admissions information suited to their individual circumstances, with the goal of making practical university entrance preparation more accessible.
The pilot will run for three days — Dec. 14, 15 and 17 — at Gyeongil High School. It targets third-year students at the school who are preparing for the regular admissions round, offering one-on-one tailored consulting sessions.
Professional consultants from the Seongdong-gu Office's College Admissions Counseling Center will lead the sessions. They will conduct a comprehensive analysis of each student's grades and target universities to help build a regular-round application strategy and identify the most suitable schools to apply to.
Because students will receive expert counseling at a school they already know well, the district expects the program to reduce the time burden of traveling to outside facilities while giving students practical admissions information matched to their own situations.
Through the pilot, the district plans to gather student satisfaction data and feedback from school staff, then address any areas for improvement identified during the process. Based on those findings, it aims to launch the program officially from 2027, expanding school-centered, personalized admissions support.
Meanwhile, the district already operates the Seongdong College Admissions Counseling Center year-round for students and parents in the district, offering one-on-one admissions consulting and a parent education academy. The center also provides tailored special programs — including early admissions, regular admissions and interview consulting — timed to key admissions schedules throughout the year.
Seongdong-gu District Mayor Yoo Bo-hwa said the district had expanded its counseling service to school campuses so students could access the admissions information they need more easily and conveniently. "We will continue to strengthen our tailored admissions programs so that students can achieve the career and university goals they are aiming for," Yoo said.
